April Fools’ Day is a day where people pull practical jokes on their friends. But in the world of social media and the internet like to pull jokes on people. From Google’s failed attempt to prank people with a mic drop button in GMail to YouTube having Snoopavision, pranks were everywhere. And the world of sports was not alone, and there was some gold out there this year. So let’s look at a few of the best ones.
Gronk Gets Brady
Nine times out of ten, when the Gronk does something and it’s on the internet, it goes viral right away. But when he pranks fellow teammate Tom Brady with the classic hand in water while he’s sleeping, it’s pure gold. April Fools’ Rating: 8/10
Mike Trout Proposal Prank
Another tried and true prank: the proposal. It requires some finesse, but if you’re the top star in the MLB and are helped out by a YouTube channel that specializes in pranks, then you’re able to pull it off perfectly. April Fools’ Rating: 5/10
— Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) April 1, 2016
Chris Jericho is always one to mess with the fans of a “fake” sport. But after years of fake retirements, we’ve grown desensitized to it over the years. Especially because Jericho is strictly part-time since 2007. April Fools’ Rating: 3/10
The Ragin’ Crawfish?
— Mark Hudspeth (@ULCoachHud) April 1, 2016
Sometimes these April Fools posts are actually a good idea. This has been making the rounds on social media, even making it on CBS Sports.com. Coach Mark Hudspeth and the team at UL who cooked this whole thing up deserve a raise. I would honestly love to see this helmet actually be used at homecoming and then auctioned off. What do you guys think?
