#3OT: LSU vs Kentucky

Posted by clintdomingue on March 5, 2016 in Featured

Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!

1st OT: Lack of Downtown Shooting

The LSU Tigers have never been a good team from the arc. But why shoot it 20 times? I understand that they need to cut away at the lead, but you can’t have any of these “empty possessions”. Add that to the lack of crashing the boards offensively to get a chance to score some points.

2nd OT: Lack of Depth In the Bench

This is something I’ve never really touched on, but the Tigers don’t have a whole lot of depth in their bench. This could be because of Keith Hornsby being out and Brandon Sampson not playing as well as they thought he would, but it’s disappointing to see a team’s bench only make five points. Yes, you’ve got players like Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney out there, but as a coach, you have to take these guys out of the game to let them breathe. If this is what Johnny Jones plans on doing during the SEC Tournament, the NIT has LSU on speed dial.

3rd OT: LSU Dug Their Own Grave

The LSU Tigers all season long have been a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of team. One game they look like they could get on a roll, next game they look like a high school team playing college ball. With all the talent in the world this team has, the coaches have to take a good chunk of the blame for this season. But somehow, the Tigers have one more chance of making it to the big dance. And in order to do so, they’ll need to do something they haven’t done since 1980: win the SEC Tournament. And if this team plays like they’ve been playing, they’ll maybe win one game.
