After some late theatrics on Friday night, the Boston Red Sox responded with a pair of grand slams that led to a 9-5 win over the Houston Astros to even the series at one game apiece.
How It Happened:
The Red Sox wasted very little time getting the offense rolling with Kyle Schwarber hitting a leadoff double. After a pair of walks by Luis Garcia, it only took one swing from J.D. Martinez to silence the fans at Minute Maid Park with a mammoth grand slam to take an early 4-0 lead.
After Garcia exited with an injury in the top of the third after a leadoff walk, Boston fired off another grand slam courtesy of Rafael Devers to make it an 8-0 lead. Enrique Hernandez followed up his phenomenal performance the night before with a solo shot to left field, his third of the series to increase their lead by even more.
The Astros finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an RBI double from Kyle Tucker and a two-run double by Yuli Gurriel, making it a 9-3 deficit.
It remained that way until the bottom of the ninth when both Gurriel and Jason Castro went yard to make it a four-run deficit but any chance of a rally was snuffed out after Jose Altuve flied out to left field.

The Red Sox had the bats making a ton of noise on Saturday afternoon with four dingers giving them all the momentum as the series shifts to Beantown.

Martinez gave Boston the lead and they never let it go after his grand slam in the first.
