Louisiana returned home to the Cajundome after the final exam break to meet up with the Bulldogs of Samford. Both teams shot the ball well throughout the contest, but the Cajuns did just enough down the stretch to come away with the 75-58 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The contest was back and forth in the early going, with both teams shooting over 50%. With 14:41 remaining in the opening half, Louisiana held an 11-10 advantage over Samford.

Louisiana went on a 15-2 run, including eight straight, to take a 23-12 advantage with 8:56 left in the opening half. Greg Williams Jr led all scorers with six.

Two minutes later, the media timeout hit with 6:21 left in the half. Greg Williams started the contest a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc for Louisiana, continuing his stretch of big performances.

The final media timeout of the first half came at the 2:31 mark, and the Cajuns needed a breather as Samford connected on back-to-back threes to cut the lead to 33-29. However, Kentrell Garnett spaced it back to seven right before the break to make it 36-29.

Samford continued their hot scoring, making their final three shots of the half to close the gap to 37-32 at the break. Williams continued to lead all Cajuns with 14.

Louisiana opened the second half shooting 60% from the field, including two threes from Kentrell Garnet, but Samford stayed in it shooting 50% to make it 52-45 with 12:39 remaining.

A sloppy ending to the mid-stretch for both teams had the Cajuns up 68-51 with four minutes on the clock. The Cajuns had a 52% three-point percentage at this point of the contest with Williams and Jalen Dalcourt leading the way.

At the 1:26 mark, Louisiana and Samford traded baskets to keep it at a 15-point lead, 73-58. The final moments ticked away with the Cajuns winning 75-58 at the Cajundome.

BIG NUMBER: 50

Louisiana had a nice shooting night from beyond the arc, shooting 11-22 from deep. Kentrell Garnett and Greg Williams each hit four while Jalen Dalcourt had three.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Terence Lewis II

Lewis had a big night for the Cajuns, scoring 19 on 7-10 shooting and adding ten rebounds to his stat line for another double-double.

UP NEXT: Louisiana will stay home to host Louisiana Christian Monday night inside the Cajundome. Tip-off for that contest is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
