Cajuns suffer deflating 35-14 loss to Akron

Cajuns Akron

The Ragin Cajuns just couldn’t get anything going against the Akron Zips, losing by the score of 35-14.

Akron got on the board first with a nine-yard pass from Thomas Woodson to Andrew Pratt to give the Zips an early 7-0 lead.

Akron extended their lead in the second quarter with Woodson taking it in himself from 14 yards out.

The Cajuns quickly responded on the next drive when Elijah McGuire used a little fancy footwork to run in from 17 yards out to cut away at the Zips lead. The Cajuns attempted to tie it up in the closing minutes of the first half on a 4th and goal from the six-inch line, but were unable to get it into the endzone, leaving the deficit heading into the locker room at 14-7.

After Haack threw a pick off of a deep pass intended for Jamal Robinson, the Zips marched up the field again and Conor Hundley walked into the endzone to extend their lead.

Akron wasted little time after they forced the Cajuns to punt with a slant pass to Jerome Lane that was taken to the house to put the dagger in the Cajuns hopes of pulling off the victory.

The Cajuns (1-2) will travel up to Ruston to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (2-2) with kickoff set for 6 pm.
