Crunch Time with David Grubb

David Grubb has been in and around sports journalism for nearly twenty years. After growing up in New Orleans, David got his start at WXII-TV in Winston-Salem, N.C., working as a production assistant. He got his first opportunity in front of the camera at KLAX in Alexandria, Louisiana as a sports reporter and photographer, followed by a stint as a reporter/anchor at WGGB in Springfield, Mass.

In 2001, David left broadcasting and started a successful career in public relations and marketing. After Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, he transitioned into educational communications, leading the offices of communications for the Algiers Charter Schools Association (ACSA), Louisiana Department of Education, Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO), and Dillard University. At each stop he was recognized both locally and nationally for his efforts.

In  2013, while still working at SUNO, he joined the staff of, covering the New Orleans Pelicans, LSU, and high school football. Over the past eight years, he has established himself as one of the most prominent sports voices in the region as a writer for Crescent City Sports, The Bird Writes, and recently In July of 2019 he became the first Black daily sports radio host in New Orleans with the debut of his show “Hard in the Paint with David Grubb.”

During the pandemic, Grubb took HITP from the airwaves into the digital world as a podcast that has welcomed some of the biggest names in local and national sports. In 2020, David joined the Tulane University broadcast team, serving as a color commentator for men’s and women’s basketball on ESPN+.
