GET TO KNOW THE GAME: What is your favorite sports movie?

Posted by Raymond Partsch III on April 12, 2022 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News, RP3's Blogs

Every week the lineup of THE GAME 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles — Southwest Louisiana’s Sports Station will share a little something about themselves.
This week the team answers the question: “What is Your Favorite Sports Movie?”

Hannah Five Names (Morning Producer)
“My favorite sports movie of all time has to be the entire “Airbud” series! Not just one, but all! I mean who can forget a golden retriever who can do all sports! Waiting for him to do some cricket because why not! I guess if you need just one then it would be “Remember The Titans” because what shows our change in culture more than a movie bringing together the divide with segregation.”

Matt Miguez (Host of Crunchtime with Miguez & Meche)
“My favorite sports movie of all time is probably “Remember the Titans.” I love the message that the movie gives in that sport, but really life in general is a team game. And the way these two groups were able to come together as a team in one of the most hateful times in our society was special. “Who’s your daddy, Gerry?”

Clint Domingue (Host of Under the Dome)
“My favorite sports movie of all time “The Sandlot.” As someone who pretty much grew up around the sport of baseball, I’ve watched this film so many times, I’ve honestly lost count. From the first game in “The Sandlot” all the way to when Benny the Jet pickled the beast and lived to tell the tale, it’s a classic that has to be rewatched at least once if not twice during baseball season.”

Raymond Partsch III (Host of RP3 & Company)
“I have plenty of favorite sports films but my absolute favorite is “Bull Durham.” It is not only the best baseball movie of all-time but my favorite sports movie of all-time. It is poetic but not overly sentimental. The dialogue is quick-witted, sharp and memorable — not surprising since the movie was written and directed by Ron Shelton, who was a former minor league ball player, who also wrote and directed “White Men Can’t Jump” and “Tin Cup.” The chemistry between Susan Sarandon, Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins is phenomenal. There is not a single frame on the screen that seems fake. It is authentic as it comes. A truly brilliant film.”

Jordy Hultberg (Host of The Jordy Hultberg Show)
“My favorite sports movie is “Cinderella Man.” The struggle, the drive & determination. Overcoming tremendous obstacles to make sure his family is fed. True testament to the human spirit. Russell Crowe is magnificent in it.”

James Meche (Afternoon Shows Producer)
“My favorite sports movie of all time has to be “Draft Day” starring Kevin Costner. I went to see it when it first came in theatres and now it’s a tradition for me to watch the day of the NFL Draft and before any of my Fantasy Football drafts. I’ve got to get myself in the drafting mood and who doesn’t love to see Jennifer Garner?”

Kevin Foote (Host of Footenotes)
“It’s really difficult to narrow down to one. If I have to, I guess I’d say “Field of Dreams” because I actually drove a long way to go to the Field of Dreams in Iowa one year. Plus, it’s about baseball. Also, a big fan of “Rocky III,” though, too. “What’s the matter with you? There IS no tomorrow.”
