Houston Astros Unveil 30-Man Roster

Posted by clintdomingue on July 23, 2020 in Blogs, Clint Domingue, Featured, Houston Astros, Latest News

With the shortened MLB season starting today with a pair of games, the Houston Astros unveiled their roster on Thursday and for the most part, it featured the usual suspects.

To set today’s roster, the Astros had to make a flurry of roster moves, which included selecting RHP Brandon Bailey to the Major League roster and recalling RHP Cristian Javier, IF Jack Mayfield, RHP Enoli Paredes, C Garrett Stubbs and LHP Blake Taylor. Additionally, three players were placed on the Major League Injured List: RHP Rogelio Armenteros, RHP Brad Peacock and RHP Austin Pruitt. The remaining players were assigned to minor league camp.

The Astros will carry 30 players on their active roster until Aug. 6, at which point they will have to trim their roster to 28. They will carry 28 players until Aug. 20, before going down to 26 for the remainder of the season.

The players that did not make the Astros 30-man roster, and all players on the injured lists, will report to Double-A Corpus Christi, where they will continue to train as part of the Astros Player Pool.
