After being no-hit by South Dakota on Friday, the Lafayette All-Stars needed a big bounce back game to keep themselves in the Little League World Series. Lafayette did just that with a 5-2 win over Pennsylvania on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Lafayette took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Isaac Boudreaux got the offense going early. Boudreaux hit a single into center field that brought home Landyn Craft. Nick Brown also scored in the inning to give Lafayette a 2-0 lead.

Boudreaux was effective on the mound for Lafayette as he allowed two hits and two runs in a three and a third inning span. Boudreaux recorded six strikeouts while only walking one batter.

Lafayette added to its lead in the second inning as Sawyer Watkins scored and then again in the third when Brown scored his second run of the game extending the lead to 4-0.

Pennsylvania didn’t score until the top of the fourth, where they put up two runs which cut the lead in half. Sam Buckley hit a two-run home run over the centerfield wall, bringing Jalen Bowman in for the score.

Lafayette responded with a run at the bottom of the fifth.

Cooper Hopkins laced a double down the middle and Brown found his way home for the third time as Lafayette extended its lead to 5-2.

Pennsylvania was only able to put up one one run but it wasn’t enough as Lafayette moved on with a 5-3 victory.

BIG NUMBER: 10

The Lafayette pitchers combined to strike out 10 Pennsylvania batters in Saturday’s victory.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: NICK BROWN

Brown led the way for Lafayette as he scored three runs in the victory.

UP NEXT: Lafayette will take on Ohio on Monday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
