With the 2019-20 basketball season tipping off in less than 60 days, the Louisiana Women’s Basketball team announced the non-conference portion of its schedule on Monday
The newly announced schedule features five games against opponents from the state of Louisiana and includes two matchups with SEC foes, including a big home contest against national power Mississippi State on December 16th.
“I think that we have put together a quality non-conference schedule,” head coach Garry Brodhead said in a release from the university. “Our team has worked really hard this offseason, and I think that our trip to Cuba really brought us all together and prepared us for the grind that comes with the season. I am looking forward to getting back to work with this group and I cannot wait to play in front of our incredible fans at the Cajundome.”
The Cajuns will play a pair of exhibition games to start the season with Mississippi College in the Cajundome on October 28th and hosting Springhill on November 1st.
The regular season will kick off on Thursday, November 7th, when the Ragin’ Cajuns welcome Loyola University (New Orleans) to Lafayette. The team then plays its first road contest of the season three days later when it travels to Huntsville, Texas, to face off with Sam Houston State on November 10th.
A brief, two-game homestand featuring McNeese (Nov. 14) and Southeastern Louisiana (Nov. 17) follows before Louisiana hits the road for two more games at New Orleans (Nov. 21) and Lamar (Nov. 25).
Xavier (New Orleans) comes to town on Dec. 2 ahead of another trip to The Lone Star State to meet up with North Texas on Dec. 7 in Denton. Louisiana’s premier non-conference matchup will be on Dec. 16 when Mississippi State travels to Acadiana for a big-time showdown in the Cajundome.
The final two games of the non-conference slate will be played away from home with trips to Ole Miss (Dec. 20) and Jackson State (Dec. 29).
