The LSUE Bengals have made another head coaching hire. This time, Matthew Wolf will be the head man for the men’s soccer program. The move was announced late Friday evening.

In the 2021-2022 season, Wolf was the head coach for Crowder College and the hire is currently pending approval from the LSU Board of Supervisors.

For over a decade, Wolf has been in the collegiate coaching ranks and has spent time with junior college, NAIA, and NCAA organizations.

Wolf led the RoughRiders to a Region 16 Championship game in the one season at Crowder College. Before that, he spent four seasons at Indiana University-East as an assistant. In those four seasons, the Red Wolves made postseason appearances every year and reached the semifinal round of the River States Conference tournament three times.

Wolf’s also coached at Rogue Community College in Medford, Oregon – NWAC, Occidental College in Los Angeles, California – NCAA DIII, the University of Providence located in Great Falls, Montana – NAIA, and Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington – NCAA DIII.

During each stay, he had a role in turning around each of the programs.  At Rogue, the Ospreys enjoyed the greatest turnaround in program history, going from one win in 2015 to seven the following season.  At the University of Providence, the Argos improved by six wins and was a Top 25 NAIA program.

Wolf has been a part of nine postseason teams, reaching the conference or region tournaments twice.  Off the pitch, Wolf has produced 54 student-athletes that received All-Academic honors.

He graduated from Gonzaga University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012, majoring in History and Sociology. Wolf’s master’s degree is in Organizational Management from the University of Providence.
