LSU’s Duplantis Earns ABCA All-South Region Honors

BATON ROUGE – LSU senior outfielder Antoine Duplantis has picked up yet another postseason honor.
The former Lafayette High star was named to the 2019 All-South Region second team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Wednesday. Duplantis had previously been named to the 2019 All-Southeastern Conference second team in May.

The four-year starter ended his collegiate career as LSU’s all-time leader in hits (359), games played (269), at-bats (1,109) and triples (16). Duplantis was selected last week by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the MLB Draft.
Duplantis also leaves LSU as No. 2 all-time in NCAA history in career at-bats and No. 2 on the SEC’s all-time hits list.
Duplantis batted .324 this season with nine doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 68 RBI, 63 runs scored and six stolen bases. His 68 RBI was third best in the SEC and his 91 hits was fourth best in the conference.

In LSU’s five NCAA Tournament games, Duplantis batted .400 with one double, one home run, seven RBI and six runs scored and went 5-for-11 in the NCAA Super Regional against Florida State, and .357 in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional with three RBI and four runs scored.

During LSU’s run in the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala., Duplantis batted .304 with two doubles, one triple, three RBI and five runs.

The ABCA honor is just the latest for Duplantis.

As a freshman In 2016, Duplantis earned All-Louisiana First-Team honors, All-SEC Freshman Team honors and was named a Freshman All-American from Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA and Perfect Game.

As a sophomore in 2017, Duplantis earned All-Louisiana Second-Team honors, SEC All-Tournament Team honors and was selected to the College World Series All-Tournament Team.

As a junior in 2018, Duplantis earned All-Louisiana First-Team honors, SEC All-Tournament Team honors and was a member of the U.S. Collegiate National Team.

Prior to LSU, Duplantis was a first-team All-State and All-District player for the Lions of Lafayette High. As a senior, Duplantis batted .453 with 11 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 51 runs scored, 30 RBI and 27 steals.
