Meche’s Fantasy Football Advice – Love/Hate Week 5

After an exhilarating week 4, full over big games and exciting results. Week 5 shows the same potential to be full of high flying action and some of the NFL’s best are set to square off this Sunday. Here are some players I love going into this week, and a few I’m not holding my breath to have an impactful day.

LOVE

Dak Prescott – Prescott always likes playing against the Giants. In his last seven starts versus the G men, Prescott is averaging almost 23 fantasy points per game. This Cowboys offense is lethal with all the weapons on the outside and Ezekiel Elliott starting to look like his old self again.

Damien Williams – With the injury to David Montgomery, Damien Williams will become the lead back in this Bears offense. Williams is closer to the end of his career, but he’s got fresh legs after taking the 2020 season off and is a good pass catching option for the rookie Justin Fields to lean on.

Marvin Jones – Former LSU Tiger, DJ Chark was officially placed on IR after he fractured his ankle in last Thursday’s contest versus the Bengals. That gives Jones Jr an expanded role in this offense and more opportunities to feast after already having a good start to the 2021 season.

Mac Jones – Jones had the best fantasy performance of his career versus the Bucs last Sunday night. In that game he threw for over 270 yards and tossed a couple of touchdowns. This week he will face a Texans defense that has averaged 29 points given up per game to opposing offenses.

TJ Hockenson – After having previous two weeks of scoring under 10 fantasy points, Hockenson is still a top five fantasy tight end talent. I expect to see more of what we saw weeks one and two between him Jared Goff than what we’ve seen recently. Hockenson leads the team in receiving yards and is tied for first on the team with a pair of touchdowns.

HATE

Kenyan Drake – The Raiders offense has been more focused on passing the ball. Their running game has been one of the worst in the league and like face a Bears, who have a front seven that’s lead by Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks and are one of the better run defenses in the league.

Miles Sanders – Sanders is in more of running back by committee offense. He’s averaging a snap percentage of over 60 percent, but hasn’t eclipsed 10 fantasy points since week 1. This next game will be against a Panthers defense, that has given up under 50 total yards rushing three times this season.

Daniel Jones – Jones had a career high 400 passing yards against a good Saints defense last Sunday. I don’t expect him to do that again, Dallas has not been to kind to Danny Dimes. Jones’ average fantasy points in three previous starts is about 12 and he is 1-2 in his career against the Cowboys.

Juju Smith-Schuster – Juju has a some great moments facing the Broncos, but Big Ben can’t deliver the ball out to his receivers like he used to and will be tough when they play the Denver defense who has studs in the back four. Juju has yet to score a touchdown this season hasn’t been targeted more than eight times in a single game.

Jonnu Smith – You can’t can’t really expect either Smith or Hunter Henry to become the alpha at the tight end position and be productive week-in and week-out for the Patriots. Henry has a higher snap percentage but Smith has the slight edge in fantasy points. Neither are players I would want starting on my rosters.
