Morgan Freeman Great For Lafayette Economy

You may or may not be aware a feature film starring Oscar and Golden Globe Winner Morgan Freeman is currently shooting in Lafayette. Louisiana has welcomed the motion picture industry with open arms in recent years.


Crumudgeon films is projected to spend more than 8 million dollars shooting portions of “57 Seconds” in Acadiana. Nearly 3 million of that is payroll to Acadiana residents.


Mandi D. Mitchell, President and CEO of the Lafayette Economic Development Authority told KATC, “We are thrilled to welcome the production team for 57 Seconds to Lafayette… Lafayette has demonstrated that our community is a competitive location to do business, particularly for creative economy industries such as film production.”


Here’s a partial breakdown. 2,750 room nights in local hotels, Production crew per diem (spent locally): $226,800, Local catering and craft services: $108,000, Local purchase and rental of goods and services: $1 million-plus.
Shooting began April 11th, and is expected to last 5 weeks.
