With the eighth pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans selected Dyson Daniels. Daniels is a 6’6′ 185 lb. shooting guard out of G League Ignite.
In 29 games, Daniels averaged 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and two steals in 31.9 minutes per game, shooting 45.4 percent from the field but just 30 percent from three for the Ignite across the Showcase and Ignite Tour.
In the second round, New Orleans took power forwards E.J. Liddell out of Ohio State and Karlo Matkovic.
Liddell as the 41st selection improved on his three-point shooting each season as a Buckeye and at 6’7″, he grabbed 7.9 boards and blocked two and a half blocks per game in 2021.
Matkovic at 6’11” was drafted 52nd overall and is from the Mega Mozzart in Serbia. While there, he averaged 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds. Sources say that he will be stashed next season.
For LSU, former Tigers forward Tari Eason was selected by the Houston Rockets at 17th overall. While in Baton Rouge, Eason scored 16.9 points per game as he made 52.1 percent of his shots. He averaged 6.6 rebounds as well as one block, steal and assist.
