With losing four starters on the offensive line (two to graduation, one to the NFL Draft and one to the NCAA Transfer Portal), the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns addressed those needs in a big way on National Signing Day on Wednesday by signing two o-lineman, and officially adding one more through the portal.

The two lineman out of high school were Opelousas High’s Trent Murphy and Pineville’s Kaden Moreau on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2, 271-pound Murphy, a two-time All-District honoree, chose Louisiana over Louisiana Tech, Nicholls and McNeese. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Moreau, a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, chose Louisiana over Tulsa, Kent State and other Louisiana schools such as McNeese, NSU and Nicholls.

Murphy and Moreau join Michigan State transfer James Ohonba in the offensive line room. The 6-foot-3, 318-pound Ohonba appeared in 20 games for Spartans and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.

With the addition of Murphy, Moreau, and Ohonba, Louisiana adds a total of four new offensive lineman to the 2022 signing class. The Ragin’ Cajuns also added Grand Lake High offensive lineman Bryant Williams during the early signing period back in December.

Louisiana head coach Michael Desormeaux also added a few skill position players to the class on Wednesday, with the signing of Franklin High running back Zylan Perry and Zachary High wide receiver Charles Robertson.

The 5-foot-9, 187-pound Perry earned Class 2A all-state honorable mention honors this past season as he played both quarterback and defensive back. Perry threw for 2,200 passing yards, 22 TDs and rushed for 1,700 yards and 16 TDs. Perry also had offers from Nicholls and McNeese.

The 6-foot, 186-pound Robertson, a three-star prospect by 247Sports, helped his team win a state championship after catching 61 passes for 1,149 yards and 13 touchdowns. Robertson had offers from Tulane, Louisiana Tech and South Alabama.

The Ragin’ Cajuns also signed McKinney High safety Damon Youngblood, Kilgore College defensive lineman Marcus Wiser, Fort Bend Marshall wide receiver Jaydon Johnson, West St. John linebacker Kailep Edwards, Neville High cornerback Lorenzell Dubose, Madison Prep quarterback Zeon Chriss and Harker Heights tight end Terrance Carter during the early signing period in December.
