Trey Amos is leaving the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.

The redshirt junior cornerback quietly entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday — a few days before the deadline.

Amos officially announced his decision to transfer on Monday evening with a post on social media.

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound cornerback is coming off a season in which he had career highs in total tackles (35), solo tackles (26) and pass deflections (8).

In his career, Amos has appeared in 34 games in three seasons having recorded 59 tackles (46) solo, 14 pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one interception.

Amos becomes just the latest former Ragin’ Cajuns to enter the portal.

A year ago, offensive guard O’Cyrus Torrence and running back Montrell Johnson transferred to play at Florida for former Louisiana head coach Billy Napier. Ragin’ Cajuns cornerback Mekhi Garner and wide receiver Kyren Lacy also transferred and landed at LSU, and running back Emani Bailey left and signed with TCU.

Amos was a multi-sport star at Catholic High of New Iberia.

He helped the Catholic High football team to a 2017 state championship and then a runner-up finish in 2018. Amos also lettered in basketball and track and field, including winning the Class 2A state title in the long jump.

Amos chose Louisiana over Tennessee, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech and ULM.
