How it Happened:
It was a defensive battle in the first quarter, with each team barely breaking the 10-point mark.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs got on the board first with a jumper from Chloe Bibby.
The Ragin’ Cajuns kept it close throughout the opening frame. They tied the game at eight after Jomyra Mathis got a layup with 2:17 left in the first.
Mississippi State led 12-10 heading into the second quarter.
And the offense did not pick up for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the second. UL only shot 4-of-13 from the field, but it was their highest scoring quarter of the game. They scored 15 points, but gave up 18 to Mississippi State.
The Bulldogs ended the first half leading 30-25 and pulled away after the halftime break.
Mississippi State shot 15-of-28 in the second half after shooting just 10-for-29 in the first two quarters.
Meanwhile, the Ragin’ Cajuns scored just 23 points in the second half and the offense could not keep pace with the Bulldogs.
The Ragin’ Cajuns lost their first home game of the season 63-48.

Mississippi State scored 34 points in the paint and outscored the Ragin’ Cajuns in the paint by 18. The Bulldogs’ ability to score inside the paint led to an efficient offensive performance in the second half.
Player of the Game: Jordan Danberry
Danberry led the Bulldogs with 12 points and added 10 rebounds. She also recorded three assists and two steals to lead Mississippi State to a win in the Cajundome.
