The Ragin’ Cajuns softball program officially released their 2022 season schedule on Monday. The schedule featured 37 games will be played within the Louisiana state borders. Some big highlights are contests between Alabama, LSU and Texas at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

UL’s a two-time defending Sun Belt Conference Softball champions and NCAA Tournament participant each season since 1999. The Cajuns are set to play 22 out of its 29 non-conference inside state borders plus four Sun Belt Conference series at Lamson Park and a road series at ULM.

The Cajuns softball program finished 47-12, 21-3 in Sun Belt play in 2021 and have finished nationally ranked each of the last 14 seasons and 29 out of the past 32 seasons.

The season will begin at Lamson Park with the 36th Annual Louisiana Classic from February 11th through the 13th, followed by weekday games against Nicholls on February 15th and Alabama on February 24th. A quick trip to the nearby Youngsville Sports Complex from February 25th through the 27th for the Mardi Gras Mambo, which will include a matchup with Alabama, completing play in the month of February.

Following a road doubleheader at SFA to start the month of March, the home-and-home with LSU will continue for a third straight season when the Ragin’ Cajuns and Tigers meet in a crossover event on March 3rd at Lamson Park and March 5th in Baton Rouge.

A couple of other highlights in March are the rivalry with McNeese resuming on March 9th, Sun Belt-opening weekend vs. Georgia State on March 11th through the 13th and a doubleheader with Texas on March 16th – each matchup at Lamson Park.

A return visit to Texas for a single game on March 30th sets up the month of April that’ll feature three consecutive weekends of key Sun Belt series starting April 1st through the 3rd at Texas State, followed up on April 8th through the 10th at home vs. Troy and will conclude Easter Weekend at South Alabama on April 14th through the 16th.

The team’s yearly spring break trip takes the Cajuns to the Midwest region of the country starting in St. Louis on April 18th. A stop at Gerry Glasco’s alma mater, Illinois, follows the next day before a visit to Indiana on April 20th will conclude the non-conference portion of the journey.

Senior Weekend is chalked up on April 29th through May 1st when Coastal Carolina visits Lamson Park. Regular season play concludes the following week from May 5th through the 7th in Monroe at ULM.

Postseason play will launch mid-May in Mobile, Alabama, at South Alabama’s Jaguar Field from May 10th through the 14th where UL will conduct their Sun Belt Conference Tournament title defense. The NCAA Tournament play will begin the following weekend on May 20th through the 22nd with the regional round, marking the start of the journey to the Women’s College World Series which is scheduled for June 2nd through the 10th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
