The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Department of Athletics has announced that admission to Women’s Basketball games at the Cajundome will be free beginning with the 2022-23 season. This approach has resulted in noticeable attendance growth at Ragin’ Cajuns Volleyball and Soccer home events.

Louisiana looks to enhance fan support and experience for students and families with the new admission initiative and the addition of interactive in-game events, on-court promotions, and season-long themes.

“We are very excited to enhance the game day experience for our Women’s Basketball program,” Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Bryan Maggard said. “With larger and louder crowds, we are confident a home court advantage will be established for our student-athletes and coaching staff. We also look forward to providing even greater opportunities for Acadiana families to experience Ragin’ Cajuns athletic events.”

With an exciting home schedule that features the Nov. 7 season-opener against Houston and a Women’s Preseason NIT matchup against Big 12 opponent Texas Tech on Nov. 20, Louisiana looks to build on fan support while building a better atmosphere for its student-athletes.

“We are very thankful to our administration for their support in enhancing our gameday atmosphere in the Cajundome and the ability to reach out to the Acadiana region,” head coach Garry Brodhead said.

“It gives us the opportunity as a program to expose the game of basketball and broaden our base to a new generation of fans. Our program has been successful over the past four years and with the opportunity for larger crowds, our student-athletes will be able to enjoy the experience that they deserve.”

Louisiana will play 15 games in the Cajundome during the 2022-23 season beginning with an exhibition game against Spring Hill College on Nov. 2.

The Ragin’ Cajuns will also host LSU-Shreveport (Nov. 29), Louisiana Christian (Dec. 3), and LSU-Alexandria (Dec. 19) in non-conference play before opening Sun Belt Conference action against Georgia State on Dec. 29.
