The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman reported Auburn was interested in Napier for their head coaching vacancy.

Billy Napier was someone #Auburn was very interested in, but sources tell me the Louisiana head coach is expected to remain with the Ragin Cajuns, and is very excited about the direction of their program and what they're building there.

Auburn fired Gus Malzahn on Dec. 13 after eight seasons with the program.

Napier has led Louisiana to a 9-1 overall record this season. They are ranked No. 19 in the College Football Playoff Rankings.

The Ragin’ Cajuns will play UTSA in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 26 at 2:30 p.m.
