Louisiana Lightning’s journey has brought him back home.
Ron Guidry, former Ragin Cajun and New York Yankees pitcher, will be inducted into the UL Athletics Hall of Fame during the UL-ULM Homecoming game on October 31st.
The Carencro native , after a stellar career at UL Lafayette, was drafted in the third round by the New York Yankees in 1971, debuted in the pinstripes in 1975 and earned a Cy Young award in 1978 with a 25-3 record while leading the team to it’s second straight World Series.
Guidry retired from baseball in 1988 with a 170-91 record and struck out 1,778.
