Saints sign 15 to practice squad, including former Ragin’ Cajun star Ringo

The New Orleans Saints finalized their practice squad for the 2022 season on Wednesday.

Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced that the team agreed to terms with 15 players for the team’s practice squad.

Those 15 players are:

C/G Josh Andrews: The 6-2, 298-pound offensive lineman has appeared in 42 games (4 starts) at both guard positions for the Philadelphia Eagles (2015-16), Indianapolis Colts (2018-19), New York Jets (2020) and Atlanta Falcons (2021).

DE Taco Charlton: The 6-6, 270-pound defensive lineman has appeared in 55 regular season games with 13 starts for the Cowboys (2017-18), Miami Dolphins (2019), Kansas City Chiefs (2020) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2021).

WR Dai’Jean Dixon: The 6-4, 200-pound New Orleans native and former Edna Karr-Nicholls star signed with the Saints following the 2022 NFL Draft. Dixon posted four receptions for 38 yards in the preseason.

DB DaMarcus Fields: The 6-0, 200-pound defensive back was a five-year letterman for Texas Tech, who played in 55 contests and started a school-record 49 career games in college and ended his Red Raider career with 224 tackles (182 solo) and 13.5 tackles for loss.

DB Vincent Gray: The 6-2, 192-pound defensive back was a four-year letterman for Michigan, where in 35 career games with 21 starts at cornerback, he tallied 91 tackles and added 5.0 tackles for loss and 16 pass breakups.

LB Chase Hansen: The 6-3, 230-pound linebacker was originally signed by New Orleans as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2019. He has appeared in five regular season games and two postseason games the past three seasons.

TE J.P. Holtz: The 6-3, 240-pound tight end is a three-year NFL veteran has played in 44 games (8 starts) for the Washington Commanders (2019) and Chicago Bears (2019-21) and posted seven receptions for 91 yards.

DT Jordan Jackson: The 6-5, 285-pound rookie was a sixth round (194th overall) draft pick out of Air Force. He played in 49 total games (37 starts) and finished his college career with 140 tackles (73 solo) and 15.5 sacks.

TE Lucas Krull: The 6-6, 260-pound tight end finished his college football career with two seasons at Pittsburgh, after playing two years at Florida (2018-19) and two more years as a college baseball pitcher at Jefferson College (2017-18).

C Nick Martin: The 6-4, 295-pound center was a second round selection of the Houston Texans in 2017 out of Notre Dame. He has appeared in 79 career games with 62 starts.

WR Kirk Merritt: The 6-1, 214-pound former Destrehan High star was originally signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas State in 2020. Merritt played in three games for Miami in 2020 and 2021.

DT Christian Ringo: The 6-1, 300-pound defensive lineman was a sixth round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2015. The former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns star spent most of the 2021 season with the Saints after originally joining the practice squad in 2020.

LB Nephi Sewell: The 6-0, 226-pound linebacker was a five-year letterman at Nevada (2017-19) and Utah (2020-21), who played safety his first three college seasons before switching to linebacker with the Utes.

WR/RS Rashid Shaheed: The 6-0, 180-pound wide receiver was a five-season letterman at Weber State, who finished his college career as the FCS all-time leader in kickoff return touchdowns (7).

LB Eric Wilson: The 6-1, 230-pound linebacker is a five-year NFL veteran has played in 78 career games with 27 starts for the Vikings, Eagles and Texans, recording 278 tackles (153 solo), eight sacks, and four interceptions.
