Texas Dominates Game Two Against LSU

Posted by clintdomingue on March 2, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

The LSU Tigers (8-2) had a rough afternoon on the mound, walking 11 on the way to an embarrassing 8-4 loss to the Texas Longhorns.

How It Happened

The Longhorns took advantage of every opportunity in the second inning with Duke Ellis being walked with the bases loaded kickstarting a six-run inning that was capped off by an RBI double from Zach Zubia. The Tigers responded in the top of the third with Daniel Cabrera hitting a two-run double down the right field line, followed up by Antoine Duplantis getting home safely after Cade Beloso was thrown out at first. However, the Longhorns put up two more runs in the bottom of the third including an RBI single from Austin Todd.

The Tigers cut the deficit to four runs in the seventh off of a fielder’s choice but Cole Quintanilla bounced back and helped the Longhorns secure the win

Big Number: 11

Friday night, it was all about the errors. Game two of the three-game set was all about the Tigers walking a total of 11 batters. It’s even more disheartening when you see freshman Landon Marceaux walking six of them in 1 ⅓ inning of work.

Player of the Game: Eric Kennedy

While Kennedy went 1-of-5 on the afternoon, he had the most impactful hit of the day with a two-run double in the second inning that helped Texas start to pull away early.

Next Up: Game Three Sunday; First Pitch at 1 pm
