The Kim Mulkey era at LSU started off with a impressive 82-40 win over Nicholls State on Tuesday.

The Tigers have dominated the series against the Colonels with a 14-0 record.

History was made Tuesday as Senior guard Khalya Pointer became only the third player in program history to record a triple-double in a game.

Senior center Faustine Aifuwa surpassed 1,000 career points with eight points in the game.

LSU started off sloppy shooting only 37 percent from field after the first quarter up only 12-5. The Tigers’ defense did not let up from start to finish

LSU then went on a 17-0 run to end the half putting the Tigers up 39-10. Mulkey’s team never looked back from there.

The Lady Tigers are now 1-0 on the season and will host Florida Gulf Coast Sunday, Nov. 14.

Mulkey is beginning her first season for the Tigers after spending the last 21 seasons at Baylor where she won three National Titles. During her head coaching career she became the fastest to reach 600 wins.
