With the Tigers losing last night to Arkansas 5-4, LSU was put into the loser’s bracket and had to face the Aggies of Texas A&M in a Friday matchup. LSU had the lead early and for most of the game but a big seventh inning was the difference as the Aggies take down the Tigers 5-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
LSU put up the first run of the game in the second inning as Cade Beloso recorded the Tigers’ first hit. Jared Jones was walked but Gavin Dugas hit a pop fly that turned into a double play that got Jones out. Beloso made it to third and rounded home on a Brayden Jobert single into right field.
Texas A&M responded with a run of their own at the bottom of the second. Jordan Thompson of the Aggies hit a double into left field and Ryan Targac brought him home with an RBI double to tie the game at one.
The Tigers would take the lead again at the top of the fourth. Gavin Dugas doubled into left field and Jobert’s RBI double past the infield line gave LSU the one-run advantage.
Tre’ Morgan scored in the fifth off Hayden Travinski’s double after he was walked to give LSU the 3-1 lead.
Ty Floyd was the starting pitcher for LSU and he finished the day with seven strikeouts, three hits, and one run allowed in five innings. Two of his retirements came in the fifth.
At the bottom of the seventh, Texas A&M took their first lead of the game. It started with Targac getting walked and Austin Bost hitting a double into left-center field. Brett Minnich’s sacrifice fly allowed Targac to score. Max Kaufer was also walked and Griffin Herring, who came for Floyd was taken out for Sam Dutton. Hunter Haas brought all of them home with a three-run home run and Dutton was soon replaced with Javen Coleman. The Aggies loaded the bases after that but Coleman struck out Targac to end the inning. A&M was up 5-3.
Hayden Travinski made it a one-run game in the ninth as he scored off a wild pitch from third base but it wasn’t enough as the Aggies won 5-4 and eliminated the Tigers from the SEC tournament.

There were 19 total runners left on base in this Friday afternoon SEC matchup as LSU left 12 and Texas A&M stranded the other seven.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Hunter Haas
Haas struggled most of the game until the seventh inning where he give his team the lead with a big three-run home run as Texas A&M defeated LSU 5-4.
