HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game One (2-0 Cajuns, 1-0)

After getting two hits in the first inning, the Ragin Cajuns would get their only two runs for the game in the second inning.

After having runners on second and third with one out to Alexa Langeliers and a second out with Stormy Kotzelnick. Kramer Eschete doubled to left field to send in Maddie Hayden from third and Kayla Falterman in from second for the win.

Fouls were flying left and right as over a dozen balls were lost in the game.

Louisiana’s pitcher Kandra Lamb won the game for the Cajuns, allowing only 4 hits, 1 walk, and 8 strikeouts.

Meghan Schorman, pitcher for the Ragin’ Cajuns, saved the game with the final score 2-0 leaving the University of Alabama at Birmingham scoreless.

Game Two (23-0 Cajuns, 2-0)

The Cajuns came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning with number nineteen Sophia Piskos getting her first home run of the season and first of the Ragin’ Cajuns to right field.

Louisiana kept it going as they pulled in four more runs with a homerun by Karly Heath in a double RBI.

The UAB Blazers couldn’t put out the fire as the Cajuns rang in another home run with a triple RBI bringing the Cajuns score 11-0 with 6 runs.

The Cajuns Freshman Alexa Langelier in her freshman debut brought in a home run sending home Karly Heath.

The game ended in mercy rule in the fifth as Cajuns held UAB to 23-0, giving Coach Gerry Glasco a new record in most runs surpassing his old record of 21.

BIG NUMBER: 23

After the first game ending in a 2-0 win for the Cajuns, Louisiana became unstoppable in the second game with a 23-0 score ending the game in a mercy rule in the fifth.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Alexa Langeliers

Langelier showed up and showed out as she had two home runs in her true freshman debut with six RBIs in her four times at bat.

Up Next: Louisiana (2-0) return to action tomorrow in a double header when they host North Texas and Texas Southern. First pitch is set for 1 p.m followed by game two at 3:30 p.m.
