LSU Eunice Baseball used a pair of timely hits and a dominant showing from Patrick Vienne to take down Tyler JC 6-2 on Sunday at Bengal Stadium.  The Bengals (44-3) have been able to win their last two rubber matches in three-game series.

Patrick Vienne returned to his stellar form, turning in his best outing of the season.  Vienne struck out a season-high nine batters over seven innings, scattering four hits and three walks in his scoreless start.  Vienne only allowed four batters to reach scoring position and saved his best for last, sitting down the side including back-to-back strikeouts looking to end the inning.

The Bengals would get all the offense they needed off a swing from Zachary Thomas.  After Grant Mangrum led off the fifth with a double, a one-out walk and Parker Coley single loaded up the bases.  Thomas unloaded on a 1-1 pitch, bouncing it off the National Champions sign in left field to send the Bengals’ dugout into a frenzy.  The grand slam gave Thomas four home runs on the season and upped his team-best total to 54 RBIs.

Coley pushed the LSUE lead to 6-0 an inning later as he banged home a two-out, two-run double.  Coley and Thomas were joined by Collin Husser with multi-hit games.

Tyler JC would scratch across two runs in the eighth before Owen Schexnaydre got the best of the Apaches an inning later, leaving a runner stranded in the ninth.

LSUE will host its home finale on Monday against Wharton County JC.  First pitch from Bengal Stadium is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
